Social care should be provided through the NHS

Social care should be provided through the NHS

As Larry Sanders health policy states - we should not allow private companies to make profits out of social care, where they maximise profits and minimise care and compassion in the drive for 'effeciency'. Social care should be invested in as part of preventative health measures, so that we aren't just mopping up mental and physical health emergencies.

Points

Investment in public social care would prevent massively the huge demands on hospitals in terms of mental health, obesity, diabetes and pandemic crises. A caring and compassionate society, with valued and highly trained carers - should be the baseline. Healthy people on a healthy planet are the keystone to a thriving Oxfordshire.

Could Oxfordshire County Council be brave and bold with its Adult Social Care budgets? Could it truly value Social Care - rather than 'growth'?
